Project Bus: An Analysis
Read between the lines
Many of you know by now about Project Bus, a USAID program recently scuttled by Trump. Here’s the video link.

To truly understand the magnitude of this development, one must dig deep. Apart from the cancellation of the program, there are a bunch of nuggets contained in the former employees video post.
First, he was on the project for seven years. Clearly, this program had a very high strategic importance for that level of commitment. Surely, USAID was on to something BIG.
Second, he says he was a “shift lead”. He wasn’t a “shift supervisor”, or “shift manager’, he was a “shift lead”. That means there were A LOT of people working this program. It must have been REALLY BIG - YUGE in fact.
Next, the use of the word “shift” means it was an “around the clock effort”. So not only was it YUGE, it was so important and urgent that it required non-stop effort. That is impressive.
Next, he is a mid-career professional who is articulate and passionate about this subject but had only risen to the level of “shift lead”. That means he was “middle of the pack” in terms of capabilities of people assigned to the program. So, clearly, this program had A LOT of the very best an brightest people contributing to this critical effort.
Finally, at least for now, this program was only about “round and round”. He didn’t mention anything about “all through the town”. So this was obviously just a starting point for the ultimate objective. I must bow in deference to the government employees who have such mind-boggling mental acuity and vision to be able to comprehend the totality of the opportunity and the massive implications it must hold.
I am saddened by the loss of an effort that promised to be an incalculable benefit to the whole of humanity. We haven’t experienced such a devastating loss since the Hindenberg.
